Richard Winthers House, Vindeby, Denmark

April 30th  till winter comes, 2022

Exhibiting at Richard Winthers House is a fantastic opportunity, and I am very excited about this. It gives me the oppotunity to work in dialogue with the danish artist Richard Winther (1926-2007), his home and workshop in Vindeby, Denmark.

When I look at the work of Richard Winther I see an artist, and a man, deeply preoccupied with life, depicting all the nuances of living, expressing himself in a colorful and imaginative language, where everything is exposed, and nothing is covered up. I also see an artist creating with an impressive dedication and wish to express himself, as well as a man with a huge amount of energy, working in all fields of art. I put notion to this, because these are sides of Richard Winters oeuvre where my artwork and subject matter resonate, and it’s from this, that I take my inspiration for the work produced for this show.

I have produced a new series of work that revolves around lived life, depicting this something, that is between us, while interacting. Focusing on how we become us through the imprint that is inflicted on us over time, performed by other people, influenced by culture and the environment – but also concerning the imprint we’ leave on other people and on our surroundings, being partaker in the shaping of the other someone, or something.

For this show I have picked up on the diversity and energetic energy that I see in the work of Richard Winther and in his house, by using a wider range of material then I normally do, including ready-mades. The material is exposed and recognizable, and as always, I leave the traces from the processes visible, as they too, are narrative elements.
